Ch'eghutsen' Wraparound Process
Wraparound is a planning approach that focuses on a child’s strengths and needs. Children and families are served more effectively when communities and child-serving agencies work collaboratively to meet their needs. Through the wraparound process a family and child selects a support team that will work to create a plan of care that utilizes the formal and informal resources in a community. The regional care teams were established to provide wrap-around services that include capacity building, prevention, and treatment based upon Native family systems. The team consists of the Case Manager, Family Advocate and Youth Coordinator. They are supported through the University of Alaska Fairbanks and participate in ongoing training. Ch’eghutsen’ staff frequently reaches out to other mental health organizations to expand the array of services. To collaborate with another mental health organization Ch’eghutsen’ will often provide orientation or train the organization so they have an understanding of the Ch’eghutsen’ Wrap Around Process. It is important that all mental health providers involved with the Ch’eghutsen’ Project clients be able to participate in the Wrap Around Process.
